Gotta agree

It's a good song and a one of the most memorable from the game (this was the last hallway before the final boss right?) but I think if you could replace that snare drum with a well timed, in synch bass beat then this song would be just fantastic.

Can't wait to see more MML2 songs

ProudOne responds:

It actually was the whole Space station Level before you entered the place with all the bosses

One of the greats

I really think I'm able to say that. Newgrounds' motto is "Everything by everyone" and here we have an amazing aural experience from an 18 year old PC Repair Technician (If your personal page is to believed). That fact alone is fantastic, but honestly I've listened to your songs for a while and this really tops off what's been a heck of a growing experience. If you took this and compared it to your earlier stuff the comparison is night and day.

I really have no experience making songs from scratch, but my dabbling with midi remixes lets me take a step back and look at something like this, then look at such a successful backlog of work, and it's just mind blowing to see. Here's to several more years of such fantastic music!

19 years old now ;)

Dang it now I have to go buy another album

I can't give this a full 10 just because its not a full song. That said this is one of the best loops on Newgrounds that I've come across. It's catchy, and REALLY fun to listen to. Can't wait for the full EP

Got a download from me

Having just played through MML2 again its great to hear some quality takes on the soundtrack (one of the best I've heard in a video game). I'd love to see some more songs so I'll second the train battle from MML2 (preferably the second phase, yes there is actually a difference).

Excellent work on this one though, a great take on one great song. Can't wait to hear more!

ProudOne responds:

I think i'll try the train battle, then! Thank you! I connect a lot of wasted days to that game XD

In defense of the artist

Yes guys, the top 50 is ALWAYS going to sound similar because the crowd who actually votes likes a certain kind of music, therefore the songs are going to be of similar genre or style. It is in no way an act of plagiarism or cheap copy-catting that two separate artists can create songs of the same genre with similar beats and rhythm.

That said, take each song for what it is. 425 has done a spectacular job from the first set of notes grabbing our attention with a small, one layer synth (a commonly used style with most drum and bass or techno songs). He then progresses with well done drums, breakbeats, bass and the like. Its a good song and its in the top 50 because of this. The fact that its been in popular games on the portal also would help its score because its going to get a lot of views because of this.

So kudos to 425 for a catchy rhythm and some well done synth, and silence your ignorant selves, you biased blam spamming nut jobs.

Michael425 responds:

First off, thank you for coming to my support in this flood of amateur critics, and thank you for looking beyond the fact that my song was on Top 30. It is hard for people to leave honest reviews when their opinions are clouded by the fact that my song got a high score.

I'm glad you liked my song.

Thanks for defending me, it takes too much time/effort for me to respond to people in the way you did. Thanks.

catchy

Its funny, even after all the games I HAVE played, Paper Mario remains off the list. That said, this is one catchy and entertaining song. I'm guessing this would fit in some carnival level or something.

It loops well to boot. I really liked the one burst of the guitar at :36

kudos

darkmico responds:

It's actually a the same piano that plays right before the burst, but distorted! Aren't I sneaky?

Nice job

Megaman music is really hard to remix, so I give huge props to anyone who can do it well. This is an already catchy and fun song, I think you slowed it down here, but you made it a lot more interesting to listen to. Adding a lot of layers and extra synth to it, you've almost created a brand new song in itself, if you'd taken away the main synth I wouldn't have recognized it at all. Great work.

Oh and suggestion cause I love what you've done with MMBN6 soundtracks so far, do you think you could remix the title theme for "Cybeast Gregar" that song was amazing.

I saw the title and did not expect much

But DANG! That was REALLY a surprisingly good song, the loop worked really well and I'd be amazed if I don't see this used in some games here real soon. You captured the original glory of that so-bad-its-amazing song and made something really fun out of it. Kudos.

From Ape Escape right?

Pretty awesome stuff. This is a dang long rehash of a game song, catchy but when its just percussion I don't know if I like that one drum hit, it sounds a bit to loud and powerful to match with the rest of the percussion. But that's me being nitpicky, its an amazingly long take on a really good song from an amazing game, especially for a first post to the site. Grats

Have to agree with Trance

I'm not particularly fond of the song, but you can certainly make me warm up to it. This is like something I'd see as a professional remix as a bonus CD track or something, this is extremely impressive work on an already incredible career.

Thanks man!
